Still alive

I realize that it's been about a week or so since I posted last. Have no fear- I am alive and kicking in sunny Florida.
Not sure if anyone really cares all that much about my blog, but I always get irritated when I go to a blog that is usually updated every day or two and then a week goes by with no updates. This is my update :)
Florida has been fab- I'll post some pictures once I get back and have access to my computer.

Half accurate

What Your Fridge Says About You

You like to be surrounded by things you love. You aren't exactly greedy, but you can be materialistic at times.

You are not careful with your money. In fact, you rarely think about how much you are spending.

You don't tend to be a very adventurous person, but you do surprise everyone now and then. You have a bit of a wild side.

You try to be responsible, but you don't always succeed. Your heart is in the right place though.

You are likely single - and a workaholic.

Banned?

Apparently Ben has banned me from making oatmeal in the morning. He complains that whenever I make it the house reeks like maple syrup for the rest of the day and it makes him nauseous. I am not sure how he even notices the smell of my oatmeal 8+ hours later when he comes home from work. Ugh, sometimes boys are just so picky. I told Ben that as long as I had cereal available I would not resort to making oatmeal. This didn't seem to satisfy him, as he made me promise to stop making that "wretched oatmeal" as he calls it. Whatev.

One more week

Until this:

And this...
The Bartnett Florida vacation kicks off in t-minus 8 days. Can't wait. This will be our biggest group yet with 16 people. Very exciting. Ben and I can't wait for 7 days of sun, relaxing, and Disney. I've already completed my packing list and I can't wait to say adios to work for a week.

muy bonita.

My super-duper cute bathing suit (that was not meant to rhyme) finally arrived in the mail today. I was beginning to worry, since I leave on vacation in about a week and I wanted to be sure that I had it in Florida. Anyway, I am no longer worried and and am now delighted to see how cute it is in person/on me. I got it off of the online ModBe catalog. Here's a picture of me in the cute suit:
Wait, that's not me. Dang it. Well, that's the suit, however that is unfortunately not my body.

Fab Friends

Last weekend Ben and I got to hang out with some of our favorite couples: Melissa & Thomas, Marc & Jasmyn, and Evan & Jamie. The evening started assembling wedding invites for Marc & Jasmyn and eating pizza, progressed to ice cream at Macey's, and finished up with bowling at Fat Cats (with only Evan and Jamie- Melissa and Thomas had to put Mace-Face to bed and Marc and Jasmyn went off to be all engaged and whatnot). It was a superfun night and it made me so happy to spend time with some of my favorite people.

Race for the Cure

This past weekend my good friend Melissa and I ran in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Salt Lake. We wanted to run in memory of our great friend Randy Pesce, who died of breast cancer (or that's how her cancer began) jut a few months ago. The race was a 5k run with thousands of people. I was quite nervous about this because 1. I had never ran in a race (except for middle school track, but it was usually 400 meters or less) 2. I had not ran a distance close to 3.1 miles since I was engaged. Could I really do this? To prepare for this race, I ran 2 miles...just once... about a week and a half ago. Hmmm. Yeah, I was lacking in my preparation a little. Long story short, Melissa and I finished the race and ran the whole time! I was super proud of myself, because I started getting crampy around 1 1/2 miles and started getting really tired of running around 2 1/2, but I pushed through it. I know this is peanuts to my psycho friends who are training for marathons, but it was still a definite accomplishment for me. Here are some pictures to document the experience. Warning: these pictures were taken prior to 8 am, so please excuse the bags under the eyes and lack of makeup on my part.

In love.

I am absolutely in love with these Dabby Reid necklaces. My sister was raving about them the other day, and when I received my Nordstrom catalog in the mail I realized why she was so in love. They're gorgeous and I am full-on obsessed with the idea of getting one of these necklaces. I would happily take any of them, but I think that I prefer the pink/tangerine or the blue. Seriously, I think that these necklaces are so lovely that they constitute as a need, not just a want.
My next step is getting Ben to agree with me.

My new favorite restaurant

This place has the best pizza I've ever had. It's relatively new- it's in the new buildings on State in Orem (you know, the humongous ones right after 400 North). As much as I am trying to be a more healthy eater, I cannot seem to control myself at this place. For starters, the decor is so cute- it's that artsy, indie, trendy look. Another suprise was in the bathroom. The bathroom is simply amazing. Seriously. The first thing I said to Ben after going coming out of it was ,"Can we please have a bathroom like that in our first house? Please?" I'm not going to go into any detail about this bathroom (since I know I cannot do it justice)- seriously, just check it out. Amazing. The pizza- the reason why I came to the restaurant- is equally amazing. It's cooked in a huge brick oven and tastes so great. Simple ingredients= simply great pizza. And don't forget to save room for dessert- the pear cobbler was heavenly.

Bottom line: Go to this place! Best food ever!
Grade: A+

I need to document this.

"You're just like a teddy bear, only with lips and teeth."
- Ben, talking to our cat Moo

Hilarious. I love my husband and the fact that he talks to our cats.
