Happy 3 1/2 to us!

Today marks 3 1/2 years since Ben and I got married. Since we got married 3 days after Christmas, we are never really in the mood to celebrate on our real anniversary. We're kind of holidayed out, especially me with a December birthday. In light of that, we make a bigger deal on our half-anniversary.

Happy 3 1/2 year day my BenjaMan! I love you bigger than a whale.

*cute story: about a month or so into our dating relationship, 'I love you's' were exchanged. Sweet. The first time I said, "I love you so much," he immediately asked me, "Bigger than a whale?" Who says that? So cute, so Ben. I said that I did love him bigger than a whale, and I've been teasing him about it ever since.

Whoops.

So the other day I was in our 1/2 bath on the first floor. I noticed a mosquito buzzing around the ceiling, so I grabbed a wad of toilet paper, stood on the toilet, realized I was a little short to reach the ceiling, jumped to get the little bugger, landed back on the toilet, and heard a big CRACK. Yup, my little hop caused me to bust our toilet lid. Looks like I need to either 1. lay off the french fries, or 2. stop jumping on toilet lids. Either way, I felt like a nerd. Who breaks their toilet lid?

Out with the old, in with the new.

After 3.5 years of having our DVD player and home theater system (nothing fancy, just some speakers) and developing a deep hatred for it (mostly just the DVD player- only worked for 75% of DVD's and automaticly put captions on all the time) we finally broke down and bought a new DVD player and home theater system. Mind you, this was no impulse buy. We talked about getting a new one for at least 2 years and we made 2 trips to Best Buy to scope out the merchandise. We found ours at Costco (we couldn't actually buy from Best Buy- their return policy is beyond lame. Seriously, a 25% restocking fee? Please.) and broke in our new purchase by watching the newish James Bond movie. We bought the movie has soon as it came out last year only to be disappointed that our lame DVD player wouldn't play it. Grr. Anyway, we watched the movie and it was great. Just a year later than expected. Here are the before and after pictures of our set-up, since I know you are so interested :)
The old set-up. Silver DVD and speakers. Woo.

Our new set-up. Not sure about the flowers on the right, but I had to get rid of the cd stuff and that was the only thing in our house to fill that space. It works for now though.

I guess I'm a cat lady.

I think that by posting a video of my cats on my blog I definitely put myself in a cat-lady category. Even so, I think that this video is pretty funny. Fights like these happen on a daily basis.

Meh.

Sorry for the lack of posting lately, I just haven't had much to type. Life is fine, work is fine, everything is just...fine. Nothing is really wrong, but I think I'm a little down right now. Since the beginning of May, 2 sets of our favorite married couples (Nathan & Taylor and Richard & Lindsey) have moved away and by the end of next week two more will be leaving (Evan & Jamie, Devin & Courtney). I just feel like everyone comes to Utah for school, gets married and graduates, and then leaves Utah for a new adventure in another state. Everyone except for me and Ben, that is. While everyone is moving away for fun adventures Ben and I are staying in Utah. Meh. And it's not that I hate Utah, I just hate seeing so many of my friends leave.

Also, I feel like a Columbus kid who never left Columbus after high school graduation. I'm just a non-Utahn who never left Utah after graduation. Like I should leave, because that's where life begins- in your new home outside of your college town.

Not that I should even be griping right now- Ben isn't even finished with school, so the outside of Utah adventure wouldn't even be able to begin until next year. The hard part for me is knowing that even when Ben graduates we are going to be staying in Utah.

So double whammy for me right now: staying in Utah forever AND watching all the amigos leave for greener pastures.

Ugh, I'm so struggling with this idea right now. I don't know where I want to be, but the idea of staying here forever while watching all our friends leave is just too much to handle sometimes.

ps- sorry for the "woe is me" post.

I hope that this chick looks at my blog and sees that I find her ad utterly ridiculous.

Flight of the Conchords Ep 6 Bret, You've got it Going On

Flight of the Conchords is my newly discovered love- thanks Sarah and T! This song really cracks me up, albeit kinda on the inappropriate side.

The fun, the fabulous, the Florida

As previously discussed in past posts, I went to Florida for a family vacation. It was great, albeit very humid. I was able to go to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM), as well as do other vacation-y things. Here are a few pictures. I would post more, but that would require more effort than I'm willing to put forth. I'm just that lazy :)
My sister, nephews, and I.

Doing Epcotty things at Epcot.

100 already? Yowza.

This marks my 100th post y'alls. Who knew I'd be so a.a.b (all about blogging). It seriously is so much easier and funner (name the movie: "This is going to be just like senior year, only funner!") than I thought it would be and it is like a super-cool journal of sorts. I was feeling all guilty a few months ago since I think that I've written in my real journal 10-15 times since getting hitched. Then I rationalized that this is a journal- only public. Anyway, happy 100th post to my blog- let's sing a song about it. Not.

Simple Pleasures

There are some things in life that are really insignificant but give me much more excitement than, say, the average American. For example, I love changing the month on my calander. You know, just flipping the page. Having something new to look at in my office makes me more excited that it should. I also love seeing how nice my kitchen after making dinner, having a huge mess, and then getting things all cleaned up. The thought, "You would have never known that it looked like a disaster 30 minutes ago" goes through my head every time without fail.

Ben's simple pleasures are clean sheets and new socks. He loves them.

What are your simple pleasures? Please tell me I'm not the only one to love calander-flipping.
