How is this situation funny?

Yesterday morning I woke up with some major throat scratchiness. Throughout the day, it progressed into a fever, headache, and a stuffy nose... you could say that I'm sick.

I griped about this to Ben, and after the initial sympathy he started to laugh at me. Hello, this is so not funny! I guess it's funny to him, because he was sick for 2 weeks over Christmas and I never had so much as a sniffle. I thought that I was immune. Apparently I am not. So now my sweet husband is laughing at my misfortune.

I am accepting fresh baked goods and get well gifts. Kidding.

I need to be better within 7 hours, because one of my favorite families in the world is coming to visit for the weekend. I don't want them to see my illness and pick another place to stay.

Give them a Texas yeehaw.

Friday night consisted of:
1. Getting together with some of my favorite girls
2. Eating lots... talking lots... scaring others around us
3. Celebrating Stacey and ReNae's birthdays... yeehaw!

Warning: My camera was acting up, therefore the pictures are a little blurry and whatnot.

Sorry Erin, your eyes were closed in both of the pictures that I took :)

"Can you hand me that plate? I'm just too lazy to reach for it."
I can obviously be myself around these girls... I love it.

I may be addicted.

I am loving Target right now. First the Home Design event, and now this?
Way to be Target. I think that I should consider having my paycheck directly deposited to you, since I am addicted to shopping with you.

This is my newest find.

Bachelor, anyone?

For the first time in a few years, I've been watching The Bachelor. I started this season because I was hearing so much fuss about the newest bachelor, Jason. In a nutshell, he's fabulous.
What I really want to discuss is the drama, the tears, the pain.... and my predictions/opinions.
First, the predictions.
These are the two girls who I think have a shot at the win:
Melissa- she's so cute, right? Anyone else remember her from the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader show on CMT? Does that mean she's a reality tv junkie? Whatev, I like her. Jillian- my #2 choice. She just seems real and funny. I loved her "hotdog theory" on episode 1.

Aaaaand here are my opinions.

Shannon. Poor girl. You've been edited to look very unflattering. Like an odd stalker. "Hello Jason, I know your whole family tree and where they all sleep. BTW, I've already picked out my wedding dress and booked the venue for our reception."
Megan. All I can say is- not classy, not nice.
Also, you look prettier in this picture than you do on the show.

Sundance love.

Earlier today my friend Stacey and I went up to Park City for some Sundance celebrity stalking. We hit the jackpot within the first 5 minutes on Main Street, because we saw Kristen Stewart (Twilight). Unfortunately, I'm not the best photographer, but here she is:

The dang paparazzi across the street got a much better photo, as you can see.

We also saw Peter Gallagher (While you were sleeping, Center Stage, The OC) and Andie MacDowell outside of the Egyptian. Also, we saw the actress who played Kit in Pretty Woman. This is my picture with P. Gallagher... he's in the middle of the shot and is wearing a dark jacket with a white collar sticking out. I know, my paparazzi skills need a little work.
Also, we saw Edward Herman (Gilmore Girls). He's very tall and very nice.

Also seen (but not photographed):
Ian Ziering
Ron Jeremy (saying "I'm not a celebrity")
Chris Burke (Corky from One day at a time)

Poor Moo.

He can't jump as high as Oscar.
BTW, how did Oscar jump that high? Seriously, nothing in my house is safe...

Thank you Target

For your fab Home Design Event.
I think that I may love this more than last year's Global Bazaar.
Here are two of my prized purchases:

This lovely lantern for the guest room

This neato shell picture for my downstairs bath.

Even better, everything is currently 30% off, which means that I may go back to Target for a second go-around. Who knows. It's fairly likely.

Date night... I give up.

Last night was date night for Ben and I. He's a student and takes night classes Tues-Fri (yes, he seriously has class until 8 pm every Friday night... it kinda sucks), so by process of elimination, Monday is date night. Slash FHE night... minus the FHE. {Mom, you cannot scold me about not having FHE 'cause I think we had FHE all of 10 times throughout my life... and watching Touched by an Angel together does not count}

Anyway, we had date night last night. I wanted to go to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner, but Ben was a stick-in-the-mud and didn't want to drive all the way to Sandy (seriously, it's like a 30 minute drive, if that). He asked me to pick another place, so I picked this little burger joint called Sammy's in Provo. I had never been there, but I'd read a blurb about it on someone's blog, which made me a little interested in eating there.

So onto Sammy's we went. When we pulled up, we throught that it was closed. There was no one in the restaurant except for one individual who was sleeping on the counter. A little skirvy if you ask me. Needless to say, we didn't even get out of the car.

Now we're zero for two on my dinner ideas... I finally gave up on thinking of a fun place to eat so we just dragged our sorry selves to Bajio. By that time I was so hungry that I didn't care if I was going to eat a burrito or just a piece of cardboard... just give me some food.

In the end it was fun, because hello, it's date night. We ended the evening with some shopping at Borders and then watching The Bachelor, which was DVR'd. No commercials. Booya.

What I learned from last night's Golden Globes.

Tracy Morgan is Tracy Jordan... and Tracy Jordan is Tracy Morgan. Tracy is not playing a character on 30 Rock... he's just being himself.

Everyone needs to watch 30 Rock... your life will improve by doing so.

Mmmm... it's good.

I've been obsessed with the idea of having my own Belgian waffle maker for quite some time. Now that I finally have one, I've been a waffle-making machine.

Isn't it lovely? Reminds me of eating at the Morris Center while living in DT.

Mmmmm... they're so good that I think I'll have another one.

Run, don't walk.

Get yourselves to Nordstrom and buy these shoes.

I have them in carmel and dark brown. I absolutely adore them.

They're the most comfortable work shoes I own, they're way cute, and (bonus!) they're currently on sale.
Jessica should pay me for this advertisement. I've already gotten one co-worker to buy them.

Definitely, maybe.

On Saturday night Ben and I went to see Marley and Me at the movies.

I definitely cried the last 20 minutes of the movie.

Ben just looked at me and laughed.

We also were sucked into watching a marathon of
The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
Maybe I liked it.

Ben too.

Ringing in the new year

Ben and I celebrated New Year's Eve at Sundance's Owl Bar.

We rocked out to our friends' music.
Carlos Cornea (the band) has some sweet tunes.

We danced and kissed the night away.

And were pleased to ring in 2009 together.
