Horsing around.

We visited some of the horses by Great-grandma Nielson's house in Richfield this weekend. Dangerboy loved meeting the horses and had some adorable reactions. I'm going to look into the nearest petting zoo, since I know that Dylan would love it. A trip to the Hogle Zoo is in the works too!

Hello friend.

Dylan has been able to spend time with so much family this weekend... all of his aunts, uncles, and cousins from Ben's side, as well as grandparents, great and great-great grandparents, among many others. He is absolutely facinated with his newest cousin Lucas, as well as the three older girls. Dylan is a happy boy!

What the what?

What is this?!?
Last time I checked, it was May 24, not January 24.

Something to smile about?
My two favorite boys. Muah!

Daily Dylan.

Little Dylan is pulling up on anything and everything.
Isn't his face the cutest?

Mish-mash, sneeze, and cough.

This morning Dylan and I woke up with the same thing... runny, stuffy noses and sore, coughy throats. No fun. Hopefully our little sicknesses will clear up soon, because I had big, Ikea-filled weekend plans.

Yes, project home improvement continues. Yesterday I got my upstairs hallway painted (thank you, thank you Meg!) and hung up a mirror. Slowly but surely, people.

The past few days have been great, because one of our family's favorite people is staying at our house... Brent! He's a dear friend that Ben and I both love very much.

Dylan is continued his mission of crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything. This morning I came into his room to find him standing in his crib, hanging on to the railing, happy as a clam. My baby is slipping away and turning into a little boy more quickly than I would like. Not that I want him to be developmentally delayed or anything, but I'm not in love with the fact that he's racing through the mobility developmental milestones. Stay a baby please!

Open mouth, insert foot.

Last Saturday I had the second most embarassing moment of my life. I blogged about the most embarassing moment of my life awhile back, but this one is nearly as bad.

I was at Remedez salon and spa at University Mall to use the massage gift certificate that Ben got me for mother's day. My cute massage therapist brought my back to the spa area and proceeded to give me a foot soak/rub.

Then I asked her the dreaded question.... stupid, stupid, stupid.

"Soooo, you're pregnant. When are you due?"

Yeah, she wasn't pregnant. When she said that she wasn't, I didn't know what to do or say. I couldn't find a way out of this one. I just said that I was so sorry and left it at that.

The next hour consisted of me mentally kicking myself over and over again during my massage. Next time, I will not ask a woman about her potential pregnancy unless she has told me that she is pregnant, no exceptions.

Yikes.

House progress.

Every week I have been devoting as much time as I can towards making our house our own. My first priority (besides unpacking) has been getting some paint on the walls. Here are a few before and after photos:

Living room before:

After:

Kitchen before:

Kitchen after:

I realize that the kitchen paint looks a little WA-BAM! in the photos... it's a little more toned down in person.

I have about a million ideas for this house and paint is just step 1. Now I'm working on getting the decor in the living room and kitchen to be nice and cohesive so the rooms complement each other with their colors and design.

Holy moly.

Laura Bunker has done it again. Seriously, she is such an amazing photographer!

Decisions are the worst.

First off, name the movie that my post title is from. It's a quote from one of my favorite childhood movies.

Second, I wanted to report on my dress hunt for my two summer wedding. I really couldn't decide on which dress I wanted, so I ordered two. Dress #1 was a clear favorite from the feedback I received:

Dress #2 wasn't even included in the vote... I found it last week on William Riera and thought that it would be really cute and flattering....
Now I have to either convince Ben to let me keep both dresses or decide which one looks best on me. I'll keep you all posted.

Abe said it best.

"All I am, or can be, I owe to my angel mother."

Happy Mother's Day Mama! I love you!

7 months.

At seven months Dylan can...
-crawl like a maniac. He is getting sooo fast!
-make quite a few sounds (yaya, nana, mama- although he doesn't associate it with me yet)
-drink up to 7 ounces of milk at a time
-happily eat almost all baby food he has been given. His favorite fruit combo seems to be peach banana apple and his favorite veggie combo seems to be spinach broccoli pear. Only beef with gravy has been rejected, and I think it's because it smells like cat food.
-chase after the cats all day long. Every so often he sneaks up on Moo and yanks his tail.
-pull himself up to standing
-laugh his head off when playing peek-a-boo

Round-up.

A few bits of news in the life of the Harris fam (but mostly me):

1. Dylan is starting this temper tantrum thing, and teeters from happy to sad in about .5 seconds if he's in the right (or wrong) mood.

These pictures were honestly taken within 10 seconds of each other. Sad first, happy second. My boy has a quick rebound rate.

2. I tried on the dreamy dress and it made me look about 8 months pregnant. Not the look that I was going for.
3. Our new neighbors rock. Homemade cheesecake, freshly baked bread... bunches of our neighbors have dropped by to say hi. Love it!

4. I've planned a trip back home to Indiana in mid-June for this lady's wedding:
My sister Sarah has agreed to be my date- hooray!

Summer wedding... gimme some input!

My MIL is getting remarried in June, which means that not only will I be gaining a step-father-in-law and two step-brothers-in-law, but I will also be gaining a new dress.

That's right, a new dress for the wedding is essential in my opinion. The wedding won't be a formal affair, so wearing a church-appropriate look will be perfectly fine. After looking and looking, here are some of my favorites:
This adorable dress paired with a yellow cardigan and some braided wedge sandals.

This dreamy number in either pink or green.

Channel my inner Bree Van De Kamp in this gingham frock. I'd throw a black cardigan over the dress and yellow belt to tone things down a bit.

This dress looks like it would be super-flattering... I would choose to wear it in black rather than this orangy red though.

This pick seems very easy and comfy. The only problem is that I can't remember where I found it...oops.

This lovely makes me especially happy since it has a built-in shaper. My post-baby tummy is still driving me bananas.

Please let me know what you think! Which dress do you all like best?

Dylan crawling around.

I recorded this with my regular camera, not my video camera, which is why the video quality is not the best. Here is a video of my man chasing me around the living room. He's getting so fast!
