Best sugar rush ever

Seriously, aren't these things the best? I remember being a little kid looking forward to Easter for months with the sole hope of getting a Cadbury egg in my basket.
I love being a grown up and having the power to buy as many of these things as I want, rather than hoping there was a chance I found one in my Easter basket.
I realize this post is random and quite possibly very boring. Sorry. My explanation for the random post? It was just Easter Cadbury eggs have been a staple of my diet, and thus in my thoughts more than usual. And I can't think of anything better to post about.

Happy (late) Easter!

Easter was super fun this year. First, my mom was visiting- I think it had been 4 years since we had spent an Easter together. Second, I decided that we would have an Easter egg (and candy) hunt on Easter morning. These are our baskets, as well as the lovely flowers Ben got for me and my mom:

(Ben had the yellow one, my mom and I had pink)

We also had a delicious Easter dinner, as pictured. We had roast with carrots and potatoes, salad, Ottavio's-esque bread, and Target cake for dessert. When we bought the cake, I wanted the cake lady to write "Happy Resurrection Jesus" on it, but my mom said that it was a little irreverent. Thus, the cake was blank, but delicious all the same.

There is not much of a reason for this picture to be included in the Easter post, other than the fact that it was taken on Easter evening while watching "Dan in Real Life." Could my cat be more evil?

Costco's Newest Members...

I finally broke down and got Costco memberships for me and Ben. I seriously love that place and would always use my mom's card when she visited. Now I don't have to wait for a parental visit in order for me to get some of that delish Costco cake (you know that amazing chocolate kind)... I can actually go in the store and buy it for myself! Yum... I can feel the gluttony coming.

Columbus parties are the best

This happened within my mom's visit, but I think it deserves its own post. Friday night our friend Jamie wanted to throw a surprise party for her husband (and my hometown pal) Evan. It was so much fun to celebrate his birthday and see all the Columbus pals.

Evan looking confused after hearing the group's weak "surprise."

Taylor and her cuuuute baby girl. Which one? You decide.

Playing Mafia and voting to kill someone off.

Some of the group.

It was a great party- ice cream cake (1 not 2 cakes- the other one fell on Katie O's car), pizza, Mafia, and the best friends around- I do love me some Columbus.

The visit came and went :(

I was seriously so excited for my mom to come visit as mentioned in the previous blog. It was a super fabulous weekend- couldn't have been better. Maybe longer, perhaps. Here's the rundown of our activities, as compared to my previously planned list:

Bowling: check
Color Me Mine: check
Movies: check check (Penelope AND The Other Boleyn Girl)
Evan's birthday party: check
Visiting the twins: check
Cooking dinner: check (yummy roast)
Easter egg hunt in my house: check
Shopping: check

Bonus:
Lunches at Rumbi, Cafe Rio, and Mimi's
Costco visits
Almost facials (the chick canceled on us last minute)
Hearing my mom's life story
Making a delish lunch

Now I just have to look forward to vacation in May... seems so far away :(

I have a mother and she's coming to visit me. ME!

Hooray, my mom is coming to visit me! I haven't seen her since Thanksgiving, and about a month ago I began to get a little homesick. To cure this homesickness, I guilted my mom into flying across the country for a long weekend with her favorite daughter. Thursday is the day of this fab reunion and she stays until Monday. I want this to be an exciting weekend, so I have all sorts of activities planned:
-bowling
-Color Me Mine
-seeing "Penelope" at the movies
-temple square
-attending a friend's birthday party
-visiting the twins
-cooking dinner (this truly is an event for me)
-Easter egg hunt in my house
-shopping, duh. That's what Bartnett women do.

Get ready, because Terri is coming to town!

Adventures in Babysitting

Yesterday Ben and I were able to babysit our favorite twins, Jordan and Peyton Kowallis. We had such a great time! In the 3 hours were were babysitting we were able to change (no #2's thankfully), feed, burp, and put the babies down for their naps. It was so fun to be able to spend time with such cute little girls. Hopefully we are able to babysit them again soon. And no, I am not baby hungry yet.

Where did my comments go?

For some reason, my blog isn't giving the comment option at the bottom of posts. I Already went through the settings and comments section of my blog, and it should allow comments. Any ideas why my blog isn't allowing comments? If so, please leave me a message or a comment on a previous post. Gracias!

Edit: This particular post is allowing comments, but I still wonder why there is no comments option on my past two posts.

Going back to my roots

Ok friends, I need some advice. I'm thinking of going back to my roots- my brown ones, that is. For the past... say... seven years, I have been coloring or highlighting my hair. As fun as it is, I have been seriously thinking about returning to brown. Mind you, my natural color is barely brown... more of a dishwater, mousy light brown. I'm thinking about going for something a little more dramatic, a little more brown than my lameo light brown. I do like my blondness... I make it a point in my life to follow the look of Kelly Ripa, but I see all these cute brunettes lately and I want to try it. Ben says I should go for it, because "it'll make my cheeks look all cute and rosy." His words, not mine. I shouldn't criticize, because getting him to give his opinion about girly topic is like pulling teeth. I need suggestions people! Shades of brown, pictures to illustrate, etc.

This color is kind of what I'm thinking:

It's the little things

Ben and I are pretty easy to please. Take last night for instance. We went to Target and bought a teeny birthday cake. We even had it written on:

Neither of us have birthdays or even half birthdays coming up, so we figured having "Way to be awesome" would cut it.

We also gave our cats some catnip, or should I say catpot. They were all about it- rolling around in it and whatnot. The rest of our Saturday evening was spent watching a Friends season 7 marathon. Thank you Taylor for letting us borrow all 10 seasons!

No more Solo Saturdays!

As many of you know, Ben has been a truck driver for about a year and a half. That means he is gone from 10ish on Friday night until 1 or 2am on Sunday. Which means no weekends together. Ever. Even though it's no fun, I've gotten used to it. I save my errands for Saturday and usually stay really busy. That was then. Solo Saturdays are officially in the past. What happened?

Just a little bit of fabulousness, that's all

As of last week, Ben is no longer a truck driver! Wahoo! He decided to start working as the office manger of an auto repair shop. He did this for the first half of our marriage, but stopped due to the grueling dental pre-reqs. It was impossible to work almost full-time during the week, go to school full-time, and deal with impossible classes. Now that Ben has decided against the dental thing and pushed full-force toward business, he no longer has to study 8 hours a day! So he can work during the week! At a job that gives him weekends free!

Ladies and Gentleman, I have my husband back on weekends!
