Oh dear...

So last night Ben and I went bowling for our date night. We go bowling fairly often- I'd say once or twice a month. Anyway, yesterday's bowling was super fun- we played 2 games. The first game I spanked Ben 120-93. Unfortunately, I choked the second game- I maintain that my thumb gave out... I lost 90-149. When we were leaving the bowling alley, Ben saw some league people coming in with their own bowling balls, shoes, etc. He must've thought that it was really cool, because when I came home today he had bought himself a bowling ball and bag. And he's working on ordering me my own pink ball and bag as well. And he wants to be on a bowling team. Ummm hello, where did this come from? I think it's hilarious- he's suddenly all about bowling and has been quoting from the movie Kingpin all day. My Benjamin is so funny- he definitely makes life more interesting. Stay tuned for more updates on my life as a person with their own bowling ball.

It's one of life's simple pleasures

The pleasure I'm talking about is of course hot chocolate. I have a serious love for hot chocolate- borderline addiction. A few months ago my mom bought me this humongo hot chocolate pack, and ever since the weather has gotten cold I have drank a cup almost every day. Today I was having a very blah day at work (paperwork and whatnot for 8 hours- vomit!), and when I didn't think I could take anymore I remembered that I brought some hot chocolate along with me. Totally perked my day up. I decided to take a picture so all my blog readers could understand the fabulousness that my hot chocolate pack is. Following said photo shoot, Ben was sure to tell me how big of a dork I was to actually take a picture of my hot chocolate. Whatever, at least I'm a happy dork.

Money, money, money, money.... MONEY!

So word it the government is giving every married couple an extra $1200 on our tax returns or something like that. I really don't follow politics/government stuff/the economy, so I don't really know what I'm talking about, but I do know there is a possibility I will be receiving some extra dough from the government. And I do follow that.
Ben and I are being responsible adults at the moment and have decided to use all of our tax return money + whatever else America gives us to pay off all our debt. It'll be such a nice feeling to be debt free! Not that we have a ton, but the little bit we have is kind of annoying to me. It's kind of like cellulite: You don't really think about it that often, but when do you think about it and realize you have it, it is quite bothersome.
Anyway, if we get enough money back to pay off all our debt and have some extra, it's going into savings towards any of our future expenditures:
1. House down-payment fund
2. Chrissi wants a new car fund
3. Airline ticket fund

My precious...

For the past few times that I've been to Banana Republic, a bracelet at the cash register has caught my eye. I've always tried it on and played with it as I was checking out, but I recently bit the bullet and made it part of my purchase! I love this beauty! I think that it can dress up any outfit and give it a little something. Sadly, I hold it so highly in my mind that I don't know what to wear it with. Like, I think that it's so neat that it needs to be worn with an equally neat outfit. Needless to say, I've had the bracelet for over 2 weeks and I've only worn it once. Help! I need an outfit to compliment my bracelet! Does this make me nutzo? Who cares, I have a fabulous, glittery bracelet and I love it! (even if I don't wear it)

Sunbathing in January

My cat Oscar (the cat who doesn't get sick) looooves to sunbathe. Whenever it is sunny outside, he wedges himself onto the windowsill of our bay window and catches some rays. Usually belly-up. I love coming home to see him like this. I'm sure the neighbors get a kick out of it too- that window is right next to the parking lot, so everyone outside of our house can see him.

My color

Take this test!

You're a bold, confident orange. A warm, powerful color that indicates a strong, welcoming personality, orange is the mark of people who are social and extroverted by nature. Vibrant, with an upbeat attitude, you have a bright, inviting demeanor. Energetic and fun-loving, you're a real friend-magnet. Your easy charm and unassuming manner make you the sort of person people want to meet and get to know better. Well-rounded and fun to be around, you enjoy helping others, so it's no surprise that orange also symbolizes attraction. Orange is an extraordinary color — for an extraordinary person.

Ouch!

Today while I was at work, I got a phone call from Ben. He said, "I think I need to go to the doctor. No, wait, I think I need to go to the hospital." Before he even told me why, I imagined at least 5 possible disasters that could have occurred and what had happened to my husband. Luckily, what really happened to Ben was not as serious as my paranoid scenarios, but he still had to go to the hospital. Somehow, he hit his head on an overhang thing on our ceiling while bounding down the stairs. The result? Three staples in the head. Staples sound a bit extreme I think, but apparently they would work better than stitches in this case. Ben is doing ok... his head is just really sore. Look closely at the picture and see the three lovely bits of metal sticking out of my husband's skull. Nice. ps- this is the first accident Ben has had during our marriage with health insurance! The previous injuries (transmission through the foot, dislocated shoulder, perforated eardrum) were all dealt with sans insurance... or doctor visits (except the foot- workman's comp covered it). Thank you health insurance- love it, love it, love it.

A first for me

I was recently able to spend the day helping my friend Taylor with her twin girls, Jordan and Peyton. Her husband was out of town for the day, and I was happy to be a helper. Whew, was it tiring or what! And I was only there for like 10 hours. Hats off to all you mommies- it's much harder than it looks. On the upside, I changed my first diaper ever- somehow I've managed to have 2 nieces and 2 nephews and never changed one. Anyway, here is the photo documentation:

Happy New Year!

Hooray for 2008! I'm so excited to see what this year holds for my little family. Last year had so many neat events, and I'm hoping that this year will be as fabulous. Here's me and Ben's first picture of the year- taken at our friends Nathan and Denise's New Years shindig.
