This weekend Ben, Dylan, and I headed to Wyoming for Ben's mom's wedding. She married Glenn, her high school sweetheart. It was a 6 hour drive to Laramie and we were a little worried about how Dylan would do on such a long drive, but he was great! Here are a few pictures from the weekend:
Another thing.... has anyone heard of "The Game of Things?" Ben and I played it with his siblings and cousins after all the wedding festivities finished up... it was so much fun! You bet that I'll be picking this game up for myself in the near future!

The $5 rule
A few months ago I read this post on one of the blogs that I regularly visit. The blogger talks about how she is working to start a savings account for her baby without actually going to the bank and open up an account.
To get the account going, she and her husband are living by the $5 rule, meaning that whenever she or her hubby gets a $5 bill it goes into her baby's at home savings account.
Ben and I (well, mostly me with a little Ben) have implemented this into our home too... whenever I have a five, I put it in Dylan's little red piggy bank. It's amazing how his little savings account has grown over the past few months... every week we add another couple of fives and it just keeps growing and growing.
Eventually we will head to the bank and open an account for Dylan... since there will likely be college, a mission, and a wedding to pay for. Until then, little red pig gets fatter and fatter each week.

8 months.
Dylan turned 8 months old last week, despite me requesting that he stay at 7 months. My boy is growing up way more quickly than I would like. Here are a few things about Dylan at 8 months:
-The first tooth just came in! The teething process has been a little rough on him, but thank goodness for teething tablets.
-Crawling like a speed demon. The boy is seriously fast. And he won't stay stationary unless he's asleep.
- Pulling up on everything and cruises from one piece of furniture to another.
-Has an increasing number of sounds, curently including ga, ma, da, na, and ya.
- Loooooves to hear his voice. Screaming, sqealing, babbling... he does it all the time. Especially in church.
- Facinated with the cats and their food. He is continually getting into the cat's food and trying to shove two fistfuls of it into his mouth- yuck!
- Still takes 3 naps for one hour each for the most part, although he occasionally surprises us with a 3 hour nap out of the blue.
-Loves any food that you'll give him. He's become such a beggar when me or Ben is eating... he thinks that he should get a taste of everything.
-Gets a kick out of being pulled around the house in his "wagon." {empty diaper box with flaps cut off, string attached to the front}
-Refused to stay put for our 8 month picture. He was determined to crawl away after being seated for more than a second. Crazy boy!

This one takes the cake.
Thanks to work pals Allison and Jorden, I have fallen in love with yet a new cupcake cafe in town- The Cocoa Bean. I've tried quite a few cupcake/dessert cafes, and I can easily say that the Cocoa Bean is by far the best. They have 8 cupcake flavors each day, and the flavors change daily. Here's their flavor chart:
Serious deliciousness, I'm telling you.
Hello, I am a cupcake addict.... it's been two days since my last cupcake.... seriously, this place is that good!
