Celebrity sighting... maybe.

This afternoon I was driving around for work and I was headed toward a patch of road construction. I headed toward a road construction worker who was smiling and waving at people as they drove past.

I'm telling you, the man that was smiling and waving was Kevin Bacon! Seriously, for the 2.5 seconds that I saw him, my jaw was dropped as I couldn't believe that I was seeing Kevin Bacon! I immediately called Ben to tell him my exciting news, and for some reason he wouldn't believe me. He asked me why in the world Kevin Bacon would be in American Fork, UT, as well as why in the world he would be doing road work while he was here.

My answer: I don't know. Possibly researching a role? Or I guess that it's possible that Kevin has a twin who happens to be a road worker in American Fork. Sue me.

To make matters worse, hubs called me a few hours later all excited to tell me that he had seen Meryl Streep driving a school bus down the road. Thanks, ya jackwagon.

Has anyone else had a maybe-possibly celebrity sighting in a random place? Do tell!

At odds.

Ok, please tell me that I'm not the only person who is constantly at odds with their hair. Every 8 weeks I go in to see my hair stylist, and I don't think that I've ever said "Just keep it the way it is." Nope, it's always "A little lighter, a little darker, a few more layers, a few inches off, etc."

This hair appointment was no exception. In April I asked for more highlights, as I wanted a lighter look for the summer. Yeah, I guess that I didn't really want light summer hair, as I changed my mind this morning:
Yep, me and my sunburned self went back to the dark side this morning. And I love it.

Here's a little sidenote for you: I actually have 2 hair stylists. One that I've been going to for a few years (who is fabulous), and then another girl that I just met a few months ago (and is fabulous as well). I alternate which  stylist I go to, because they're both great at what they do and I can't choose just one. Am I an indecisive freak?

Anyway, I'm sure that in 8 weeks at my next hair appointment I will decide to go blond again or chop off 4 inches or something, as I am unable to let my hair just be

Anyway.

Here are my animals Oscar and Moo, who are amazingly not at odds with each other right now. Usually they're terrorizing each other, so this cuddlefest is a cute change.
Weird little beasts.

Awkward + Awesome (vol. 2)

Awkward

-The 5 year old next door barging into my house and seeing me in my underwear
-Finding out that there is a poor child in Utah County named Stiletto
-Having to go to the basement every time I need to go to the bathroom, as the upstairs toilet is still sitting in my living room
-Me getting overly irritated with a client for blowing off an appointment and leaving her a voicemail telling her to stop wasting my time.
-Taking Dylan to the ward cook out last night without my husband. In 15 minutes Dylan stole a man's phone and started running around with it, threw a cup of punch at a poor lady, and bit me. Yep, that's when we went home.

Awesome

-Getting a really, really sweet email from a childhood acquaintance/blog reader. Made my week.
-Hello, pink bathroom is no more.
-The intern at work bringing cupcakes from The Cocoa Bean on her last day.
-Dylan's nap has been going on for nearly three hours... amazing.
-One week until my family comes to Utah!

Almost there.

Bathroom progress is going along fabulously- in fact, all that is left is installing the new toilet, picking up a new mirror, and painting the walls.

To say that I'm in love with my new bathroom would have to be an understatement.... it's just that fabulous. Here's a little sneak peek of le bathroom:

Yes! My dream faucet!

You'd better believe that I'll be sharing more pictures when everything gets finished up.

Peace out to the pink.

After 14 months of living in our house, we have finally gotten started on our first major home improvement- the upstairs bathroom! I have wanted to re-do this bathroom since the day we purchased our home. If you've seen our bathroom then you know why. I'm all for pink- it's my favorite color after all- but pink toilet, tile, and flooring are waaaay beyond my favorite color preferences.

Thanks to Ben's sweet trade-work skills, this has to be one of the most budget-friendly remodels around. Seriously, the costs incurred on this project have been minimal thus far. We're doing a ton to this little space- new floor, new tile, new toilet, new sink.... basically the tub and the vanity are the only things surviving this remodel.

You want to see my Pepto-Bismol nightmare? Here ya go!

 Seriously, woof.

And here's what the bathroom looked like as of Monday morning:
Holy demo, Batman! I'm proud to say that I ripped at least half of the tile off the wall by myself (well, me + hammer + crowbar).
As of Monday night the new floor has been completed and the bath tile man is coming at 10 am Tuesday. Wahoo! Stay tuned for some awesome after pictures!

Over the weekend...

We saw:
My review: C+
Goonies + ET + War of the Worlds = Super 8

We ate:

Yummy. Random location (old gas station/connected to a smoke shop). Will return.

On an unrelated note...
I keep reading blog after blog about how amazing Pinterest is. I don't really know what it is, and I'm kid of boycotting it for no particular reason. I guess that I waste enough time on the internet already, and I don't need something else to eat away at my time. Don't worry, I'll probably end this boycott within a few months and then I'll blab to you all about how you must get on Pinterest.
That's all.

You can thank me later.

If you liked....

Then you will love...
Here's a little summary for ya:

In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris, and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together, they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes-fascinating, sometimes-exasperating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret: one she’s kept hidden from everyone, because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly-perfect society, she also learns that her secret might be what helps her save those she loves . . . or it might be what destroys her.

I'd say that we're set.

Last night Ben came home from work with a ginormous cooler. I asked him what the cooler was all about, the told me to open it. I did so a little fearfully, because you never know what Ben will bring home... it could have been anything from a puppy to old car parts (but it better have not been a puppy).

I opened it up and saw it filled with beef, all different cuts and whatnot. Ben's boss had slaughtered one of his cows {cringe} and wanted to give us a ton of beef.

I have never had so much meat in my freezer- in fact, I had to clean out all the junky 3/4 empty packages of tater tots, frozen dinners, etc. that had been lying around for the past year in order to make room for the beef.

Here's a picture of our freezer after unloading all the meat:

{Beef. It's what's for dinner}

Anyone want to come over for a cook out? We'll provide the meat.

{Special thanks to Eric and Cindy for giving us a ridiculous amount of meat. Your generosity is so appreciated}

Monday, go away.

The Harris fam had another great weekend, and once again I am annoyed that the work week has already come around. What I wouldn't give to be independently wealthy and not have to do that thing called work.
{Dream on}

Ben's younger brother Ryan came into town, which meant that I was a golf widow for the better part of the weekend. I was ok with this for the most part, except when they were over an hour late coming home on Friday night. Compound their lateness with the fact that I had spent hours on an amazing dinner that had since turned cold and you get a lady that is absolutely seething with anger. Seriously, whatever pent up rage I had inside my soul gathered together and lashed out at the husband. Wasn't pretty.

Not to worry though- my emotions are back in a healthy range and things have been worked out with the previously mentioned late golfer husband.

Anyway, back to the weekend. The delish meal that I mentioned was pulled pork tacos- check out the recipe here. Ahhhhhmazing.

Here are a few snaps of our weekend:
Going down the slide like a big boy!

Not sure which one Dylan loves more- his Uncle Ryan or the garden hose.

Lovebirds. Tweet tweet.

Dylan looked so cute before church on Sunday. I love his H&M shirt and tie with his Converse sneakers! Too bad he was not thrilled with getting his picture taken. It's a bummer that flash photography is probably frowned on during Sacrament meeting... Dylan was in rare form today. The kid spent the better part of the meeting dancing on the pew.

PS- Is anyone else ridiculously excited about Harry Potter coming out next month? Cannot wait.
PPS- What do you all think about the Bachelorette this season? I found the most hilarious assessment of Bentley (as well as a broader assessment of Mormon d-bags) on the blog "Mormon Child Bride." Please check it out here and get ready to laugh.
