My dangerous new hobby is...

Racquetball!

Ben took me to play racquetball yesterday night- he has played before, but I was a first-timer. I must say, this is the most dangerous sport I take part in. Much more high risk than yoga and running.

I seriously feared for my face during our hour in the racquetball room. Getting hit in the face with the ball seemed inevitable, thus breaking my nose, giving me a black eye, or busting my lip. Ben didn't seem to understand me when I said (and yelled), "Hit the ball soft! I'm not a boy! Treat me like a girl!"

I sustained one very minor injury though- Ben hit the ball as hard as he could (again, forgetting about hitting softly), the ball bounced off the wall, and hit me square in the stomach. Ouch. I now have a large welt on my tum.

All things considered, it was a really fun time and a great workout, but I think that I would like to invest in a face mask before playing again.

I got a bloody nose the first time I played that sport. Actually first and last. :) I don't know how people play w-o face masks!

LOL my parents, who are not exactly athletic, did play when I was a kid. It was the only sport either of them ever played- and they were GOOD! I used to go watch them play. I tried it a few times. I Pretty much suck, but hey, what can ya do?

i'm so jealous! i LOVE racquetball! T and i like to play it together but there's no place around here with courts. i took a couple racquetball classes (beginner and advanced) in college and it was so fun. we'll have to play sometime, you know, if we are ever in the same city again.
funny that you yelled that to ben though.

Careful, Mike had a guy whack him in the face with a racquet...and 40 stiches later he now has a nice scar on his chin :) haha.
